In what is seen as an attempt to win over the students agitating against regularization of contract jobs, the Telangana government has issued a GO constituting a separate Public Service Commission with immediate effect.
Issued by the general administration department on Friday under section 83(2) of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the GO would enable the new government to make direct selections to the posts under various categories besides helping it to carry out functions under article 320 of Constitution of India, sources said.
They added that this would keep the Union Public Service Commission at bay as article 315 of the constitution had vested this power to the former until a separate public service commission is created by the new Telangana state. The GO has also been notified in the extraordinary issue of the Telangana Gazette.
